Let everyone achieve his/her best

Let everyone accept each other as they are

Let us pass it on to the future

Those will be embodied and contained in the Games Foundation Plan which is due to be submitted to the IOC in February 2015.

The 50th anniversary of hosting of the 1964 Olympic Games

50 years ago on 10th October, the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics took place. It's been half a century.

It was held in the pleasant season. On the other hand, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is going to start on 24th July. It's the most horrible terrible humid season here in Japan. It would be bad for athletes, spectators and volunteers. I wish it also takes place in autumn.

There has been many events to celebrate the 50th aniversary.
 

Base camps for the Olympics

The TOCOG is creating the guide (list) of candidate base camps for the 2020 Olympics and will start soliciting candidate base camps.

The schedule is;

January 15th 2015 : Announce the guidelines for applicants

End of Jan - beginning of Mar 2015 : Hold the briefing sessions


April 2015 - September 2018 : Data registration

August 2016 : Start providing the information of candidate base camp


Well ahead of that, Sweden has decided to choose Fukuoka city as their base camp. What an early decision!!

The minister for the 2020 Olympics

The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Hakubun Shimomura is now responsible for the 2020 Olympics, but the Abe government is planning to create a new cabinet post exclusively for the Olympics.

Currently, the name of Toshiaki Endo emerges for the post. I don't know of him...
