until Tokyo Olympics

Dec 21, 2014

Rio 2016 has closed the volunteer applications.

Rio 2016 announced that 242,757 people applied for 70,000 positions.

45,000 people are supposed to work on the Olympics and 25,000 people are on Paralympics.

According to a site, Rio 2016 expected 300,000 applicants and that's why it has expanded the deadline. The site also says that there is few custom of volunteer in Brazil where the gap between rich and poor is wide.

Nov 15, 2014

Rio 2016 extends the deadline for volunteer applications.

Although the deadline was today, it has been extended by one month, which is 15th December.

Already, More than 160,000 people have registered for the 70,000 volunteer positions.

Why should it be extended?????
The people who have already registered might be disappointed. It can lead a decrease in their motivation.

Preparing big size beds for visitors

According to the Rio 2016 website, the organizing committee is preparing big size beds and other furniture for big size athletes.
The article;
Giant beds for giant athletes

Japan should prepare big size beds not only in the Olympic village but in all accommodations around Tokyo for visitors from all over the world.

I've always thought that beds in Hotels and other accommodations in Japan are too small for non-Japanese.

The importance of education/development for volunteers

On the Rio 2016 website, a Brazilian volleyball player Giba compliments volunteers.

The article from the Rio 2016 website
Volunteers keep us calm at crucial moments

Volunteers have such very important roles for Olympics' success.
That means, volunteers can ruin the event too.

I believe that accurate education/training for volunteers are vital. It would be ideal if I can be involved in the 2020 Olympics in the form of volunteer training taking advantage of my specialty, Talent and Organizational Development.

The three main pillars of the vision

embodied and contained in the Games Foundation Plan which is due to be submitted to the IOC in February 2015.

The 50th anniversary of hosting of the 1964 Olympic Games

Base camps for the Olympics

The TOCOG is creating the guide (list) of candidate base camps for the 2020 Olympics and will start soliciting candidate base camps.

The schedule is;

January 15th 2015 : Announce the guidelines for applicants

End of Jan - beginning of Mar 2015 : Hold the briefing sessions

April 2015 - September 2018 : Data registration

August 2016 : Start providing the information of candidate base camp

Well ahead of that, Sweden has decided to choose Fukuoka city as their base camp. What an early decision!!

The minister for the 2020 Olympics

The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Hakubun Shimomura is now responsible for the 2020 Olympics, but the Abe government is planning to create a new cabinet post exclusively for the Olympics.

Currently, the name of Toshiaki Endo emerges for the post. I don't know of him...

Why can he ruin all his athlete life himself?

The Asian Games is now taking place in South Korea, and an unbelievable thing happened.

Naoya Tomita,  a Japanese swimmer, has been charged by police because he stole a camera from a South Korean journalist.

The details;
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/swimming/29390989

It's hard to believe. His all the effort to get medals, incredible hard training, sacrificing and putting everything else second... He blew all of these things in an instant. How can he do it?

Changing a host city for the 2022 World Cup?

I was surprised. Qatar might not be able to host the 2022 World Cup because of its too high temperature.
So why was Qatar chosen the host city in the first place?

The article;
http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/09/22/us-soccer-qatar-fifa-zwanziger-idUSKCN0HH1C820140922?utm_source=Facebook

According to another site;
Many foreign workers are working for construction of the World Cup venue under harsh situation, and more than 100 workers have died.
And, there is a suspicion that there was exchanging dirty money when bidding to host.

The doors should be opend wider. - Emblem soliciting

One of the LinkedIn members introduced a British designer who has already created the set of emblems for the Tokyo Olympics.

Look at his designs.
http://studentshow.com/gallery/Tokyo-2020-Olympic-Games-Design/9064197

He also mocked up photos to show how it would all look.
Amazing!!

http://studentshow.com/gallery/9073227/Tokyo-2020-Olympic-Photos

There are many talented designers all over the world.
I wonder why the TOCOG doesn't open the doors to everyone in the world.

I've heard that there are only 300 people who fill the application requirements, and most of them are Japanese.

Ticket prices for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Rio 2016 has announced ticket prices.

http://www.rio2016.com/en/news/news/rio-2016-announces-ticket-prices-for-olympic-games-with-focus-on-making-event-open-to-all

Soliciting the emblem design

The Tokyo Organizing Committee has started soliciting the design of an emblem for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

I was surprised to hear that because I had thought all along that the following was the emblem for the Tokyo Olympics.

Oops! It seems to be the emblem for bid to host the Olympics. Big misunderstanding!!

And, I liked this emblem, so I hope the emblem for the Olympics is greater than it.

Olympics volunteers come from all over the world.

It's been a week since the volunteer registration for the Rio Olympics started.

http://www.olympic.org/news/past-games-inspire-rio-2016-volunteer-applications/237489

According to the site, about 40% of the applicants are from countries outside the host nation. It's surprising for me. I didn't thought that volunteers from outside the host nation account for so high percentage. They are from more than 160 countries!

Many of them are from China, the UK and Russia, which recently hosted the Olympics.

And about 60% of candidates have already taken part in some kind of volunteering in the past.

Oops!! For the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, many experienced volunteers come from all over the world.
I have to have some kind of competitive edge!?

Kei Nishikori became a finalist in the US Open!

Yesterday at US Open tennis, Kei Nishikori became the first Asian man to reach a Grand Slam singles final! Great job!!!!!

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/tennis/29096972

We are very excited about that here in Japan.

Actually, it was already a big news when he defeated Milos Raonic, ATP Ranking 6, and placed in the Top 8.

However, his remarkable breakthrough is continuing.

In the quarter final, He defeated an ATP Ranking 4 player, Stanislas Wawrinka!

GREAT!!!!!

At this point, I don't think many people thought he proceeded to the final game ,because the opponent in the semi-final was ATP Ranking 1, Novak Djokovic.

However he won. He brought off!

At the same time, ATP Ranking 2 player, Roger Federer was defeated in the semi-final.

So the final game is Kei Nishikori (Ranking 11) vs. Marin Cilic (ranking 16).
Nishikori might be able to win!!!!!

He is now 24 years old. He will be 30 years old when the Tokyo Olympics takes place. I think that it's possible for him to get a medal then.

The number of volunteers

The registration tutorial of the Rio Olympics says the number of volunteers is 70,000.

I've heard the Tokyo Olympics would have 80,000 volunteers.

Almost the same size.

The Volunteer Selection Process for Rio

The volunteer registration for the Rio Olympics has sarted, and the website shows a bit more detials of the selection process.

According to the site;

28 August 1014 to 15 November 2014
Registration is open

October 2014
Online dynamics
It seems to be online trainng in order to know about the Olympics and working as a volunteer.

November 2014
Applications close and language levelling starts
It seems that a kiind of screening is conducted by this stage and all registrants can proceed to this phase. (I guess)

February 2015 to May 2016
Beginning of the interview process

June 2015
Letter of Invitation

November 2015 to June 2016
Start of training sessions

March 2016
SHIFTS
It seems that the volunteers get to know programs they work.

July 2016
Accreditation

August and September 2016
YOUR ROLE

I guess that the Tokyo Olympics would coduct this kind process with plenty of time to spare、considering Japanese charactor.

The website also says that the volunteers will be able to take part in Aquece Rio, the Rio 2016 test event programme that gets underway in the second half of 2015.

I didn't know that there is "a test event."

Aug 23, 2014

The Rio Olympics will start the volunteer registration.

The 2016 Rio Olympics will start recruiting volunteers on 28th this month.

http://www.rio2016.com/en/get-involved/volunteers#

Acooding the website, the volunteer-related schedule is as follows;

And the types of volunteers are;

<General volunteer>
Event Services

<Specialist volunteer>
Medical Services
Technology
Sport
Transport
Language Services
Anti-doping control

I heard that the Tokyo Olympics might start hiring the volunteers next year. It's much earlier thatn the Rio. Or Rio is very slow? I have no idea though.

The IOC critisizes the PyeongChang Organizing Committee

According some news sites,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The IOC is heavily critisizing the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for its lacking sense of responsibility and its low level of understanding of tasks/jobs.
Because here are a lot of problems, such as the delay of venue construction and securing sponcers.
The IOC suggested many times that the PyeongChang Organizing Committee should commission the preparation tasks to an expert group which the IOC recommends, even though it has to pay a hefty fee.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

2014
The World Cup Brazil had similar problems. In fact, some facilities were under construction during the Workd Cup was being held. And it has a bigger problem. Refer to my previous article.
http://mytokyoolympics.blogspot.jp/2014/07/hosting-worldwide-event-is.html

2016
The Rio Summer Olyimpics is also of concern like the World Cup Brazil.

2018
The PyeongChang Winter Olyimpics is OK?!?!

2018
The World Cup Russia has a differnet issue. Due to the Ukraine crisis, some Europian countries claimed that Russia's right to host should be deprived. Even an opinion that Germany and France can hold instead came up.

2020
The Tokyo Olympics!!!
Should conduct risk management!

Use money for athletes! not for bureaucrats!

I wrote in this blog that Tokyo Governor, Yoichi Masuzoe was planning revisethe venue plan because of its expensive cost.

http://mytokyoolympics.blogspot.jp/2014/06/venue-plans-for-tokyo-2020-olympics.html

I thought that it was good. However, money is going to be used for other things.

The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee is moving its office to the Toranomon hills.
Toranomon hills was recently bult in the center of Tokyo and is now a hot spot. Of couse it's very expensive! Does their office need to be so luxury?

Also, TV news said before that Tokyo Governor was planning to build new a new guest palace in Tokyo, there has be one in Tokyo tough. He said he wanted Japanese style guest palace like one which is in Kyoto. What?!?!?!?!

The Organizing Committee office and the guest palace are mainly used by bureaucrats. Tokyo Governer will cut back on the sports venues and waste money for bureaucrats including himself?
Shame on you!

Hosting a worldwide event is...

Although the World Cup Brazil has finished, Brazil remains to have problems they should solve.

Before the World Cup started, Brazil had have some problems in that regards. In fact, there were many anti-World Cup demonstrations and even riots.

Many people lost their place to live because the rent soared due to the World Cup and they ended up not being able to pay it anymore. They live in tents just right beside the World Cup venues.
The Brazil government must do something for them as soon as possible.

When Tokyo held the Olympics in 1964, I guess there might have been the similar situation. Although people in Tokyo might be excited, many people in country side had still suffered from post-war poverty.

Hosting a worldwide event can lead to big economic effect. In fact, the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 boosted the Japan's rapid economic growth. However, always just a few people receive its benefit.

Countries or cities have to consider what they use money for. For event? for their people?
I guess Brazil might still have been in the phase which they should have use money for their people.
The Rio Olympics is in 2 years. I wonder if it is going to be OK?

Germany won the championship.

The World Cup Brazil has finished.

The final game, Germany vs. Argentina, was a dead heat as well as many other games in this World Cup and went into the extra time. It was 1-0.

The features of the World Cup Brazil were,

- Most of the games were head-to-head and very exciting to watch.

- Goalkeepers played outstandingly,
such as;
Howard (the US), Ochoa (Mexico),  Julio Cesar (Brazil), Navas (Costa Rica), not to mention Neuer (Germany).

- Incredible thing, Brazil lost with the score 1-7, happened.

The Awards

Golden Ball : Lionel Messi (Argentina)

Some say that Messi wasn't deserved, but I realized that he is an extraordinary player. Any other top players are no match for him. It's no wonder Nigeria coach said Messi is from Jupiter. haha.

No smile because just after the final game he lost.

Golden Boot : James Rodriguez (Colombia) --- 6 goals

His number of games were fewer than other strikers because Colombia lost in the quarter final.
In spite of that, he scored most. Great!
He was definitely the player who got attention most in this World Cup.

Golden Glove : Manuel Neuer (Germany)

Although many goalkeepers showed great performance, I think nobody is against his award.

Young Player Award : Paul Pogba (France)

Many young players played very well, such as Rodriguez (Colombia), Naymar (Brazil), Götze (Germany), but they are all 22 years old or above.
There wasn't such a noticeable person among players who are 21 years old or less.
(Precisely, the award winner must have been born on or after 1 January 1993.)

Fair Play Award : Colombia

My most favorite scene

Colombia' dance when they scored a goal!!

Jul 10, 2014

Congratulations, respected Klose!!

Miroslav Klose of Germany scored a record breaking 16th World Cup goal in the game against Brazil. Great!!

Goa--------l!!

FIFA World Cup scoring record ranking

He is one of the players I respect as well as my favorite player Lampard of England.

Both Klose and Lampard are solid and great both physically and mentally.

Soccer players OFTEN do unsporting and dirty things, such as diving and frequent complaining against refrees.
However, Klose and Lampard never do such things. On the contrary, they seldom fall even though they are attacked hard by opponent players.

Some Klose's fair play episodes; (from Wikipedia about Klose)
On 30 April 2005, while playing for Werder Bremen, Klose refused to accept a penalty given against Arminia Bielefeld due to it being incorrect. He was later given a fair play award for his actions.
At the end of September 2012, Klose scored a goal using his hand for Lazio against Napoli. Klose admitted this to the referee, who then took back his decision for the goal, spared Klose from a yellow card and shook his hand.

Klose always shows his salto after scoring a goal, but at this memorial goal, he didn't do it.
I wondered if it's because his salto after scoring the 15th goal in the game against Ghana didn't go perfectly. haha.
Oops! The spin wasn't enough.

Actually, he avoided doing salto because he had a left injured foot.
Yes, Germany has one more game, which is most important, the final.

Jul 9, 2014

Brazil was defeated "1-7"!!

The host team, Brazil, which was almost obligated to win the championship, was defeated by Germany, surprisingly with a score of 1-7!!!!

It is not the score of soccer.

It was as if the game between amateur versus pro.

In about 6 minutes, Germany scored 4 goals. 4 goals in 6 minutes!!

It is no longer a soccer game.

In this World Cup, the most of the games were close battles. However, the semifinal is 1-7!!

Brazil didn't function as a team at all.
The reason why Brazil has been strong is individual high ability, not excellent team play. I wonder if this game showed the limitation of relying on only talented individuals?

Is it time that many countries in Latin America and Africa which has relied on their individual abilities should learn "team play"? Otherwise, they wouldn't win?

Personally, I like team play soccer. It is much more fun to watch!

All the focuses have left the World Cup.

The top 4 has been decided.

In the end, the leading soccer nations advanced to the semi final.

And unfortunately, the players and the teams in the spotlight in this World Cup has left, such as;

Two 22-year-old stars,
James Rodriguez (Colombia) and Neymar (Brazil)

Before starting the World Cup, It had been said that this World Cup would become the Neymar's World Cup. Although Brazil defeated Colombia, Neymar was injured during the game and his World Cup has finished.

Rodriguez, who got attention most in this World Cup, has also left because Colombia was defeated by Brazil. He is the most talk-about person.

Guillermo Ochoa, a goalkeeper and Miguel Herrera, a coach (Mexico)

Both were definitely in the spotlight!

Costa Rica team

They were called as a dark horse, but they are no longer a dark horse. They were really strong and a great team as well as other soccer nations.

Belgium team, I cheered for after the Top 8 was decided, was also eliminated, they were very very good team though. There wasn't so-called "a star player" like Neymar, Messi etc. but their play were solid.

Jul 4, 2014

Draining duel, draining duel, and draining duel.

All the first round matches in the 2nd stage have finished.

I think this World Cup is very high level.

All the games were exciting, head-to-head, and draining duel.
Surprisingly, 5 games went into extra time, and 2 of 5 were decided with shootout.

It was hard to see the players of the losing teams, especially after such a dead heat. Some players were crying, some were at a loss, some were even not able to get up.

I think all the 8 losing teams were capable enough to aim for the championship.

Jun 30, 2014

The draining duel

Although it was the first game of the 2nd stage, it was like the final.

Brazil vs. Chile, 1-1 (shootout 3-2)

I don't like a game of which result is decided with shootout. It's a real cruel for a beaten team.

The players of the two teams were worn out both physically and mentally. Their physical and mental were beyond the limit. It's usual in a game which is decided with shootout.

Although Brazil has huge amount of pressure to have to win the championship in the World Cup which is held in their country, they defeated Chile.

The moment Brazil's wining is decided

Both the winners and the losers are crying after the game.

The man of the match is, of course, the goalkeeper Julio Cesar. He did VERY GOOD job in this game!!

The Chile team,
You were really a great and strong team. I can say you were the team which could aim for the championship. Unfortunately, you faced Brazil in the first game of the 2nd stage. It can be said that it was almost the final game.
Thank you very much for showing the wonderful games.

Jun 29, 2014

The Group stage has finished.

Spain, Italy, England and Portugal, many European soccer powers were eliminated before the 2nd stage.

On the other hand, Latin American countries showed great performance so far.
Home-court advantage? I don't think it's only a reason though.

Here it is the 2nd stage tournament.

The persons I'm going to take notice of are;

James Rodriguez of Colombia.
Actually I didn't know of him at all. But because I hear many people praise him a great deal, I though I should see this talented young boy carefully.

 Rodriguez scored a goal.

Vincent Enyeama, a goalkeeper of Nigeria
He is a funny and very friendly person!
Enyeama chaffing a opposite player Messi during the game!!

Enyeama telling jokes to the referees during the half time!!

Miguel Herrera, a coach of Mexico
His enthusiastic reactions have been a hot topic in this World Cup.
Herrera being more excited than the players

The countries which I think become dark-horse in addition to Costa Rica are;

Chile, Colombia, Belgium

Suarez, you need treatment of mental illness.

Surprisingly, an Uruguay player Suarez, who is one of the top players in the world, bit an opposing player during the game Uruguay vs. Italy.

Suarez is biting Chiellini of Italy.

Much more surprisingly, it was not the first time, but the third time. He bit opposing players both when he played on Ajax in Netherlands and when he played on Liverpool in England. He was suspended for several games at those times.

He said in tears that it was a really wonderful thing to play and score goals in the World Cup.
He knows that playing in the World Cup is such a special thing, and he also knows he would be suspended if he bites. Why did he do?

A few children are sometimes suffered from some kind of mental illness and bite other people. But it is cured as they grow up.

Suarez is definitely suffered from mental illness. He should, or rather MUST receive psychological treatment.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has reached a decision
#1. He is suspended for nine matches.
#2. He is banned for four months from any football-related activity.
#3. He is ordered to pay a fine in the amount of CHF 100,000.

I think that #3 is meaningless, it's a great deal of money though.
Regarding #1 and #2, I think it's too lenient. FIFA should suspend him until he succeed in curing his mental illness.
There are many children in the world who loves soccer and the players and want to be a player when they grow up.
It's is as if FIFA told such children that a player is valuable enough to play if he has great soccer ability in spite of his immature mentality.

Japan soccer doesn't have future at this rate.

Japan was not able to get even one win. Of course, they were eliminated from the World Cup.
It's no wonder.

However, many Japanese people expected the Japan team to move to the 2nd stage, and once they were eliminated, many of the people started criticizing the manager Zaccheroni.

He has been doing very well. He improved the Japan team a lot in 4 years. The reason the Japan team was eliminated is just its low ability in the first place, needless to say.

Japan has been overestimating Japan soccer ability, and I HATE it. Even the players themselves misunderstand their own ability.

If Japan wants to improve the Japan soccer level seriously, first thing to do is understand the actual current ability accurately.

Then drawing the future situation it should be, and then figuring out the GAP. It's the same as business.

Unless Japan is aware of the current accurately, it can't determine what to do and how to do in order to bridge the gap.
That means there is no future for the Japan soccer.

The first appearance, the first goal and the first win

Bosnia and Herzegovina made a debut in the World Cup.

Although the soccer level of Bosnia and Herzegovina is very high, it was a long way to participating the World Cup.

Many of the players have grown up under the terrible horrible Bosnian War.

Even after the end of the war, the religious and ethnic conflict is deep-rooted.
An old brother of one of the player said his young brother has been branded as a traitor by people in the same ethnic group. Because he plays with people in the different ethnic groups??

There were 3 chairman in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Association, Muslim Bosniak, Orthodox Serb and Catholic Croat.
I think that it's an abnormal circumstance, but is indicate the depth of religious and ethnic conflicts.

Because they was not able to solve that abnormal situation, they were suspended by FIFA and UEFA. So many people related to Bosnia and Herzegovina soccer have tried hard to solve it, it was not easy though.
Their first participation in the World Cup was accomplished with MUCH effort of MANY people.

At their 1st game, versus Argentina, although they lost the game, the memorable first goal in the World Cup was scored by Ibisevic.

Ibisevic scored

At their 2nd game, versus Nigeria, they also lost the game.
However, I can say that they would have definitely won if there weren't twice misjudgments.
In fact, the ace striker, Dzeko said that we were going back home, but the ï½’eferee also should go home.
If Bosnia and Herzegovina has won this game, they would have been able to move to the 2nd stage!!
I know that "if bla bla bla" is meaningless though.

Disappointed Dzeko

At their 3rd game, versus Iran, they finally scored their first win!!!

I wonder if this wonderful wining can help Bosnia and Herzegovina solve their ethic conflict even a little.
I was born and grow up in a homogeneous country Japan, so it's hard for me to understand the situation of their country. So maybe I shouldn't comment on it.
However, if there are 2 options, "killing each other" and "playing some sports in the same team together for own country", which do people want to choose?

Jun 26, 2014

Lampard, your last play in the World Cup?

Although it has been decided that England was eliminated from the World Cup, they had one more game left, versus Costa Rica.

Just before the game, I found that England would let their young players play in the game for their experience.

I was surprised to hear that, because I expected England to try to win at least one game with the best members.

Young players!?!? That means I would end up not seeing Lampard play in this World Cup?

But! Lampard participated in the game as a captain!! Finally, I was able to see him play.

He is a great player as usual both physically and mentally.

He is 36 years old, and it has been said that he might retire from the national team, he said he would think about it after going back home though.

So it might be the last time to see him play in the World Cup. I have a deep feeling.

Most of the players of the England team were young, which of one was 18-year-old boy! Lampard showed grate captain ability, but probably because of the young players' lack of experience, the England team didn't work well.

In the latter half, Gerrard was brought in. Oh! I was very excited because I though I can see the combination of Lampard and Gerrard!

Lampard and Gerrard have been pulling the England national team for a long time. Gerrard is 34 years old. I was wondering if it's also the last time to see them in the same pitch together.

Just after Gerrarrd was brought in, Lampard called him and handed the captain arm belt. It was somehow moving moment.

Lampard handed the captain arm belt to Gerrard.

After that, Rooney was also brought in, and the England team worked better gradually.
But unfortunately, it was draw.

England vs. Costa Rica, no score draw.

Lampard, and the England team,
I wanted to see you play in this World Cup a bit longer.
Although the result of the World Cup Brazil might be terrible for you, I believe that when looking back on this World Cup in several years, it will be considered as a good turning point of generational change for England.

I expect the England team to come back to the World Cup with new talented players in 4 years and to aim for the championship.

I need to memorize the face and name of the England's young players. I don't most of them. haha.

Jun 22, 2014

Dark Hourse, Costa Rica!

The reason that Group D is called "Death Group" is Uruguay, England and Italy are all in this group, which means one of them would not advance to the 2nd stage.

Take a look at the following.

3 teams have won the championship before. I believe everyone paid attention to which country among 3 ends up not being able to advance the 2nd stage.

However, Costa Rica defeated Uruguay 3-1 on 14th and today, it also defeated Italy 1-0, and then moves to the 2nd stage!!!!! Surprising!!!!!

Uruguay and Italy is facing on 24th for moving to the 2nd stage, which means either of the teams also leaves before the final 16.

Stormy World Cup!

Jun 21, 2014

England also leaves before the 2nd stage.

England lost to Uruguay, 1-2.

Following Spain, another soccer nation was not able to advance to the final 16. I think it is one of the worst events in both Span and England soccer histories.

Suarez of Uruguay was great!
It had been said that he might not be able to participate in the World Cup because of his injury.
In the interview after the game, he said in tears that scoring goals in the World Cup was really special thing. I was impressed by his tear. Even for him who is one of the top players, the World Cup is such special.

Now that England that I always cheer for leaves, I wonder what team I should root for from now. I'll wait and see a little more.

Jun 20, 2014

Spain was eliminated from the World Cup Brazil.

Something extraordinary happen!?!

Spain was not able to move to the 2nd stage.

They won the cup three times in a row, EURO 2010, World Cup 2010 and EURO 2012, and the ranking it 1st. What was wrong with them?

Chile defeated Spain 2-0.

It seems that I guessed right,
http://mytokyoolympics.blogspot.jp
and Chile moves to the 2nd stage.

Ochoa, a lot of great saving

Brazil vs. Mexico, no score draw.

Brazil's goalkeeper Ochoa saved Brazil's goals many times.
I don't know how many times an announcer shouted "Ochoa--!". haha.

He was selected as the man of the match, needless to say.

Germany won big against Portugal.

Germany vs. Portugal, 4 - 0.

I guess many people were looking forward to see this game because it was FIFA Ranking2nd vs. 3rd.

However, unexpected big margin! 4 - 0!!

Mueller scored a hat trick!

Come to think of it, he was awarded the Golden Boot at the last World Cup in South Africa.
At that time, he was 20-year-old young boy, he is now still 24 though.

Jun 15, 2014

Venue plans for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be revised.

On 10th June,
Tokyo Governor, Yoichi Masuzoe announced that the venue plan will be revised because of its expensive cost.

On 31st May,
The Tokyo National Stadium, constructed for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, was closed because it is going to be reconstructed for the 2020 Olympics. The farewell party of the National Stadium was held on 31th.

I wonder if what kind of stadium will be built with lower cost.

Dorogba is a real pillar of the team.

Côte d'Ivoire defeated Japan, 2-1.

Although Côte d'Ivoire first went 1-0 down, as soon as Drogba, on the bench at the start, was brought on, Côte d'Ivoire scored two goals in a row.
It was not that Drogba got a goal or assisted the goals, I think the team suddenly started working well because of Drogba's joining.

He must be a both spiritual and functional pillar of the Côte d'Ivoire.

Ah---, England

I always cheer for the England team. This time, England is in the most terrible "Death Group."

The FIFA Ranking of England is 11th, but there are no less than two teams of which ranking is above in the group. Uruguay is 7th and Italy is 9th. What a terrible group!!

England's first game was versus Italy, and Italy defeated England 2-1. Ah-----.

However, Costa Rica (the ranking is 28th) defeated Uruguay 3-1.
Surprising ending!

There is still hope left for England.

And, my favorite player, Frank Lampard didn't participate in the game. It was a shame.
I hope I can see him play in the next game, and England wins.

What happened to Spain?!

Spain and Netherlands, they faced each other in the final at the previous World Cup in South Africa, faced again in the first round.

Surprisingly, 1-5!! Spain lost no less than 5!!!!!

Regarding another game of Group B, Chile defeated Australia 3-1.
I heard that Chile is actually strong enough to aim for championship. Unfortunately it is in the same group with Spain and Netherlands. But Chile might move to the second place instead of Spain?!

The 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil has started.

It finally began.
Some problems have been pointed, such as the delay in preparation/construction and the lack of public safety.
In fact, some constructions have not been completed yet and many Japanese tourists have already gotten involved in incidents in Brazil.
The delay in the 2016 Rio Olympics preparation has already been considered as a big problem.
But anyway, it has started.

Surprisingly, I heard that EVERY day when Brazil's game is held would be holiday in Brazil. Not only shops but companies and schools are all closed.
Only the Soccer Nation could do that!

The opening game was Brazil vs. Croatia.
Brazil won normally. 3-1.
The Man of Match is Neymar as expected. He scored two goals. I wonder if it is the first step for him toward the Golden Boot or Golden Foot, or both?

By the way,Japanese acted the referees for the opening game. Although there are some disputes, it was an honor for Japanese people.

The chief referee, Yuichi Nishimura

Terrible assignment - Yasushi Akimoto

It's been a while since I posted the last article.

During that, there are several affairs about the Tokyo Olympics.

17th March
Fujio Mitarai, who is a chairman of CANON, was appointed Honorary President of Tokyo 2020.

At the same time, many people were added to the Executive Board, including Yasushi Akimoto.
Boooooooo------------!!!!!!!!!!

I booed when Former Prime Minister, Mori was assigned to the head of the committee.
http://mytokyoolympics.blogspot.jp/2014/02/the-organizing-committee-was-launced.html

But I boo much more this time!!!

His appointment has been criticized much. In fact, signature-collecting campaigns against his appointment have been conducted.

Terrible. Really terrible!

Olympic events have started.

Although the opening ceremony will be held tomorrow, some events have started.

First, snowboarding slope style. And now skiing freestyle mogul - women is going.
Soon figure skating - team event will e held soon.

Finally the Sochi Olympics has started!

I'm very looking forward to watching the opening ceremony!!

Feb 2, 2014

The Sochi Olympics will start soon!

The Sochi Olympics will start in a week!

The athletes we Japanese expect to get a medal are;

Most of all, a ski jumper, Sara Takanashi.

She has shown outstanding performances in the World Cup.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_Takanashi

She is still 17 years old.
When she stands on podiums, she looks as if she was an elementary school student?!

We also expect figure skaters to get a medal.
Especially, Mao Asada and Yuzuru Hanyu can get a gold medal.

Personally, I hope Noriaki Kasai wins a gold medal.
He is a 41 year-old ski jumper. He is a great jumper but he never has win a gold medal. Actually he almost secured a gold medal in the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics, but one of the other team members failed his jump terribly, and they ended up silver medals.
Since then, Kasai has stuck to win a gold medal. I think that's why he doesn't retire even though he is 41 years old.

The Organizing Committee was launced.

The Organizing Committee was set up on 24th January.

Former Prime Minister, Mori was assigned to the head of the committee.
Boo--------!!!!!

Too many organizations for the Olympics

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has set up the bureau which dedicates to the preparation of the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As I wrote on this blog, the Japanese Government set up the office to coordinate Tokyo 2020 preparations in the Cabinet Office about 3 months ago.

What is different? I wonder if it's necessary that both the Japanese Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government have the similar organization.

Are both of the organizations necessary in the first place in spite of the fact that the Organizing Committee is soon launched?

I think it's definitely waste of tax revenues!
