The FIFA Ranking of England is 11th, but there are no less than two teams of which ranking is above in the group. Uruguay is 7th and Italy is 9th. What a terrible group!!
England's first game was versus Italy, and Italy defeated England 2-1. Ah-----.
However, Costa Rica (the ranking is 28th) defeated Uruguay 3-1.
Surprising ending!
There is still hope left for England.
And, my favorite player, Frank Lampard didn't participate in the game. It was a shame.
I hope I can see him play in the next game, and England wins.

ReplyDeleteThe general view here is that we will be lucky to get very far beyond the group stages. However, although we lost this match against Italy, the team's performance wasn't too bad and that gives us a bit of confidence for the next few matches. One difficulty the players have is that they are not used to the hot and humid conditions. Manaus was an especially uncomfortable location. Perhaps it won't be quite so bad further south.
Yes, they played very well! Also young players is being conspicuous in the England team. I think it's good because England has rely on veterans like Gerrard and Lampard for a long time.
